Tales from Etheraz: Kyran’s May Event 2026 Recap pt. 2

Greetings, jokesters, japers, and javelin-throwers!
I, ATLAS THE BARD, have returned to pass on thrilling conclusion of how the group of adventurers known as the PC Party took down the West Gate!! My wonderful incredible informant, Kyran Greyling has written a THRILLING account explaining all the details, including how he struck the killing blow against Myr Galdur!! Read all about it below!

Transcript: Hello Atlas,
The Hounds captured two Blakka soldiers. One of them joined Niv’s forsworn, not sure if we can trust him but he at least deserves a chance, he didn’t seem particularly loyal to Blakka, easier for us but if you’re going to kill so many in a House’s name at least stick with it, don’t just give up the second you’re in danger. He’s a coward and I have no respect for him but he doesn’t deserve to die. The other soldier refused to leave Blakka and was executed by Niv at his request, if he’s going to die anyway might as well let him choose who does it. I respect that he stuck with his beliefs, even if they were wrong.
The person who wanted to talk to Agarion tried to kill him. Agarion survived but she stabbed him. She was killed. She asked to speak to our leader alone, I should have noticed that something was off. I had suspicions but didn’t want to believe it. One of the others we rescued from the Pits said that if we let her leave she would just go back to Blakka. I let Ben kill her. I feel bad that it had to end up like this but she would have just gone back and died in the pits anyway, at least here we can make it painless. One of them joined us. One of them had hit his head and was sent back to Bradvlad with Commander Niv to get medical help. I gave them some components for the road, I hope he’ll be alright.

Agarion gave me some documents that were saved from the fire, they were burned but still somewhat readable. One of them was a letter from General Orion Valen to Myr Galdur saying that they were capturing prisoners from Zelmore and surrounding areas and sending them to the pits. There was also a Quarterly report on the Delves saying that Atrox supplied Iron and Steel to Blakka and that the conditions and water sources in the Delves may have health benefits and that Blakka might try selling the water to Simoon. The tunnels in the Delves also have a habit of changing and Blakka soldiers have been disappearing. They are just repeating our mistakes. They are messing with places that aren’t meant to be messed with, trying to control places that aren’t meant to be controlled. It will only end badly for them. There was a Letter from Lonomia Achelous requesting consumption parasites and spores from Myr Galdur, they are doing experiments for Blakka and if the shipments are delayed the experiments will have to restart. I wish we had found this sooner, we could have stopped the shipments. There was a report on the Hounds, Blakka doesn’t know anything too important, just some basic information on them.
We set up some barricades with Oakharn, we got most of them up. We raided Gaia’s workshop and killed her. We gave her a funeral.

When we went out to fight Myr Galdur we took down the trebuchet in front of him. I was fighting people for the first time in years. I don’t know what came over me that night, I’ve never wanted to fight before, I’ve always found the idea of killing someone horrible. I understand that sometimes it has to be done but I try to avoid it whenever possible but for a bit I just stopped caring. I don’t know what that says about me but I don’t like it. Erath asked to fight me one on one. He lost, I killed him. He lost because he was too angry to consider that he might not win that fight. He was too convinced that I was weak. That I couldn’t kill him. And he might have been right. A year ago I don’t think I could have, but I can’t let my inability to kill lead to more Coalition deaths. He asked me to kill him after he was too injured to keep fighting. He used to tell me that I needed to be stronger and this was his way of teaching me that. I became what he wanted me to be but I am willing to do that if it’s what keeps us safe. If I let him live he would have just continued to do what he has been doing, it was the only way to stop him. Erath was already gone, the only thing left was Myr Galdur. We buried him. Erath deserves a burial. Maybe not for who he became but for who he was before Blakka. He wasn’t always the best person before then either but he was one of us. I put a flame oil at his grave, he always loved fire.

So many have died to get us here but we won. We control the Vale now, we control the main entrance into Arancis. Arancis is safe, at least from Blakka. We’ll still have to keep fighting but at least now we know the people we are fighting to protect are safe. Myr Galdur had some documents on him when he died. One of them was notes on Coltar Spawn and a list of notable betrayals that happened after the Great Hollows Mine Collapse, most of the people listed were Coalition members. I don’t like the idea that it could be one of us but I can’t ignore that possibility. We also found a letter from the Lord Commander to Myr Galdur saying that two other people had gone through the same thing Elden had and now served Blakka. It also gave reports on the locations of some important members of Blakka.
We celebrated the Festival of Taimes! It’s nice to get to celebrate stuff like this again, with everything happening we haven’t had the time. I showed Agarion the documents we found and he said that the people taken by Blakka were the other Swords. At least that means they are alive, I don’t know if we can get them back, what Blakka does to people might not be reversible, but we’ll try.
-Kyran Greyling

Rejoice! For the West Gate has fallen!! There is no promise to what the future holds, but for now, let us revel in this hard-won victory. Until the next battle, fight together, or die alone.

Signed,

Atlas the Bard
