Greetings, diplomats, daydreamers, and degenerates!
I, ATLAS THE BARD, am writing to you from Skyloft to report on the happenings of the group of adventures known as the PC party. Brave readers, I fear we’re reaching a pivotal moment in the fight against the Coltar Spawn of Hatred. Let me explain:
Previously, the PCs fought their way into Skyloft through old, unstable mine tunnels infested with monsters. But, there’s never an easy moment in Arancis: upon emerging, the bedraggled group heard screams and sounds of a battle. There’s no rest for the adventurous! A small group of Blakka soldiers were desperately trying to fortify an old building from Vorvolaki, but the troop was overwhelmed by the screaming monsters. Without hesitation, and with their typical thirst for blood, the party lept into battle, determined to save these soldiers from a horrible death. The attacking Vorvolaki were wearing the same colors as the Blakka soldiers, and appeared to be revived corpses of Blakka soldiers that had succumbed to the Vorvolaki previously. A fate worse than death… Horrifying!!

A few minutes into the battle, one of the Blakka soldiers was dragged away by a Vorvolaki. Though they were initially rescued by the party, this soldier must have had a particularly unlucky streak, as they were killed mere minutes later. Some people just can’t catch a break. To shock and horror, the body on the ground began to move. With a strangled cry, the body reanimated, returning as a Vorvolaki and attacking who it had seen as allies mere minutes earlier!! HORRIFYING!!!! I hate it here.

With the Vorvolaki at their backs, the party concluded fortifying the Blakka fort and rushed inside, where they had to deal with the Blakka soldiers. Would these two groups attack each other as enemies now that the danger had passed? Fortunately, the Blakka soldiers had no desire to fight the group that had just rescued them, and offered to train the party to assist them in their journey ahead.

In addition to the Blakka soldiers, members of the Coalition arrived to assist the party in sharpening their skills for the battles ahead, including ME!! (To everyone’s pleasure and joy). I spent the rest of the day talking to these brave adventurers and learning their tales so I could bring hope to the people of Arancis. Brave deeds aside, I must say I am rather concerned for the wellbeing of these children. One wore the colors of House Blakka, but denied current affiliation, explaining that Blakka left them to die but now they still wear the colors because they only have one change of clothes (but don’t fear! They bathe three times a day). Another told me that he’d died, but he “got better.” My friend and party informant, Kyran, informed me that he’d died TWICE. One person was deeply suspicious of my intentions and did not believe me when I said I was a traveling bard, insisting that I was “just homeless.”
These are the people defending our land from danger, folks! Gods help us all. Still, I believe in them, and see brighter days ahead. Gentle readers, I will report back when I can: the ruined towns of Eventide and Twilight loom ahead, and the Coltar Spawn of Hatred grows nearer. Let us hope that the party successfully faces Hatred, and that brighter days lay ahead. Fight together, or die alone.
Signed,
Atlas the Bard
